Same thing...again!

Art is said to be a creative process. Every time you do something new, you learn how to express yourself in a different way.  While I agree it is good to keep doing something new each time you sketch or paint, as a self taught artist, I would like to spell out the importance of repeating a topic again.

This still life of a deer bust was done again, a year later.

For most artists, repeating a subject might be a boring thing. But when you repeat,  you revise and strengthen what you know.

Painting is a process. And this process can be mastered by doing the same thing again and again. And because art is a creative process, you will realise that when you do a topic again, you will think differently. You will definitely not repeat what you have done. Instead, you might do something more!

Try doing the same thing twice… it will be worth it.
