Abstraction and Me

I have often been asked “What is Abstract Art”? Well, Abstract art is more difficult than Representational Art. Representational Art (what i do), uses figures, and identifiable forms to express ideas, emotions or situations. Abstract Art uses colours and abstract forms to express the same. It can be compared to “Music without Lyrics”. It is much easier to convey joy (or pathos) through a song (with lyrics), than only with pure music.

Honestly, i did try my hand at Abstract Art, but i found it quite complex. And probably because i loved figure drawing, and drawing real objects, i always wanted to express myself through recognisable shapes and forms.

I tried to convey "Nature", not sure i succeeded ! (2012)

Abstract Art is definitely a much more evolved form of art. Maybe someday i will give it a try again !!

Another (failed) attempt at expressing Nature. Turned out less of an Abstract, more of Representational Art.

Another important thing is, Abstract art is different from Modern Art. Someday i will write a few lines about Modern Art, as a lot of people ask me about that too !!
